Small apps for things nobody bothered to make.

A scorer for one dialect of mahjong. A wok you hold in your hand. A light that keeps travelling for a pet who has gone. 11 of them so far, for iPhone and Mac — made by one person, on the side, because they should exist.

What keeps getting made

Three things I can't stop making.

Every app here started as a note that said "why does this not exist". The notes fall into three piles.

Things to play with

Games that only make sense once the phone is in your hand — a wok you toss, a silent film you voice, a cast you direct.

Quiet company

Tools for the moments that don't need advice. A light that keeps travelling. A sea that takes what you set down. A mirror that shows signals and never a verdict.

Reference, done properly

The formula next to the result, the source next to the fact. A scoring table almost nobody else has. Half a million records that work with the phone offline.

The person

"I keep a list of things I wish existed. Then I make one, and the list gets longer."

Ming Qi 明 齐 Founder · sole developer · Ashhub

Ashhub is one person — an engineer in Tianjin who makes apps on the side. Design, code, artwork, localisation, store operations and this website are the same pair of hands. That is why the apps are small and oddly specific: each one is something I wanted, could not find, and decided to make properly instead of waiting.

On the App Store the developer is listed under the founder's name, 明 齐. Ashhub is the studio those apps are published under.

How they are built

A few habits, not a headline.

  • Everything that can run on your device, does.
  • Buy once — paid features are unlocks, not rentals.
  • No accounts, no trackers. That is a habit, not a selling point.
